Carbon Fibre Tube
Carbon Fibre Tubing supplied in black one metre lengths. The material offers a high strength to weight ratio - 90% fibres and 10% resin. They can be collected at our door but normally will be posted on to you wrapped in a triangular shaped (Toblerone) protective sheath of our recycled black 2.5mm bulk twinwall material. All the tubing is unbendable and must be delivered STRAIGHT. See the carbon option below. The package may vary in form to accommodate aditional items from our shop. If uncertain on sizes etc. then please email or telephone us. Delivery being by the Royal Mail at Standard Parcel rate and within the UK takes a few days. We can ship Internationally but the postal size regulations only allow up to a 600mm maximum overall package length. However carriers are more obliging and we will obtain any qotes as necessary. Just ask by email.

The 6 x 4 size is used for our Mugi Evo and Tea Racer wing spars, supplied in nominal 500mm lengths in the kits. Sometimes tubes telescope snugly one within another. But manufacturing tolerances vary and almost every batch differs. Light sanding of the inner tube can usually ease the fit. The gloss finish will be lost of course. Examples: our 6x4 tube wraps around our 4x2 tube enabling a longer, tapered (well stepped really) wing spar. This gives increased strength with little bending moment and at minimal weight increase. Similarly the 6x4 sometimes goes into the 8x6mm tubing. However the 8mm is on its own due to wall thickness, as is the 10 x 8, neither will telescope; at the other end of the scale the 4x2 tubing will not easily accept a 2mm tube or rod, being too tight internally. In any event when ordering please write a note at the top right of the order form in 'Additional Information' mentioning the telescope requirement. We will endevour to find a suitable match set for you, though a little light sanding of the smaller tube may be needed.
To prevent the carbon fibre ends damaging we advise lightly grinding them with a fast wheel, the local minor heating settling the strands. Ideally the material needs cutting with a fine tooth coping saw. The dust should NOT be inhaled-please wear suitable filtered protection. Permanent gluing is best accomplished with slow Araldite. Superglue will work but the vapour can cause white blooming of the material; neither does it withstand shock load so Araldite is undoubtedly the superior adhesive. Otherwise the use of Evo-Stik contact adhesive and Scotch 550 tape can work well enough.
