Fin Fixing Skewers
Available in pairs these machined replacement birchwood skewers are 150mm long and 2.5mm diameter. Supplied within the outer flutes of a black 2.5mm twinwall oblong and released by bending the longer edges outwards. All packaged in a stiff envelope for posting. If ordered through the site system with other goods then they will be included (somewhere) in your packaging.
The skewer is used to fix your new Evo/Scramjet replacement fins firmly in place. Extract the old ones carefully from under the wing, by pulling out with pliers. Insert the new dowel into the fin and set the obtuse angle by eye. Fix down through the wing to the desired location, sharp point first forming the hole. Snug down the fin and 550 tape the joint angles to smooth the airflow. Repeat for the other fin if needed. We suggest colouring or highlighter to the fin outer face-aids acquisition in flight. Finally, using pliers aligned nose/tail direction, snip off the excess timber close to the wing. Evo-Stik over the stub end to hold the skewer in place and smooth over. Please recycle all materials where possible.
